Tropical Cyclone Irina!

News Media Report

Tropical Cyclone Irina causing havoc
in KwaZulu Natal.

Please pray for us. We are going through a hurricane here in Kosi Bay.

Stephanus' mother called and told us about it.

The satellite picture shows that it is moving over us now. We thought it would only start in the morning. But apparently we should feel the effects for about two days. For the first time we are hearing winds picking up, rain at times very heavy.

We will probably not sleep much tonight because we have to keep watching the tents. We are in three army tents. One for storage, one for sleeping, one for kitchen and schoolwork/living room. Heavy rain dams up in certain places and needs released often.

If it gets too bad and dangerous we have the 4x4 Land Cruiser packed with clothes and things to evacuate to higher ground if necessary. We are close to the lake. We are partly surrounded with big trees and thick bushes on the ocean side so we don't feel the rushing winds too bad which is good for the tents. We can usually hear the ocean but tonight it's only rain and wind. Amazingly the frogs and crickets don't stop for the storm. :-)
But at times we can hardly hear them because of the intensity of the rain.
